Step 1: Sign up/Log in to Runway 

• • Visit Runway

Step 2: Go to the Text/Image to Video tool

• • For text-to-video generation, choose Gen-3 Alpha from the model dropdown. (Note: Gen-3 Alpha Turbo only supports image-to-video.)

Step 3: Create Your Prompt

• • Write a clear and descriptive prompt. Example: “A misty forest at dawn with sunlight filtering through the trees.”
  • Add details like camera angles or movements for better results. Example: “The camera slowly pans across the forest.”
  • Choose an aspect ratio for your video.
  • If stuck, use Runway’s prompt suggestions. Example:
    • "Slow motion shot: [a subject in motion]. An extreme wide angle establishing shot from low angle level looking up at into the sky at sunset hours. [A subject; ex. a plastic bag, a shiny orb, or a goat] is floating slowly in the sky above, defying gravity. Extreme perspective, 3x speed. In the style of [describe style; ex. cinematic, muted naturals coloring, documentary film"

Step 4: Choose Video Length

• • Pick either a 5-second or 10-second video.

Step 5: Generate Your Video

• • Use "Free previews" to check the first frame before using credits.
  • Adjust the General Motion slider (1-10) for motion intensity.
  • For more control, use:
    • Camera Motion: Set direction and speed.
    • Motion Brush: Select up to 5 parts of the frame and assign motion values.
  • Once satisfied, you can:
    • Favourite your video for later, download it, or extend it by adding an extra 4 seconds, automatically continuing the motion.
